FORT MYERS -- An elderly couple has died following a two car accident at the entrance to Siesta Bay RV Resort on Summerlin Road.

Deputies were called to the crash around 6:30 p.m Friday night.

Police say a 2007 Infiniti was traveling north on Summerlin Road when a 2012 Toyota attempted to make a left turn onto Summerlin from Siesta Bay RV Resort.                                                                                                                 The Toyota pulled into the path of the Infiniti and the cars collided.

The driver of the Toyota is identified as 89-year-old George Mabie  of Fort Myers and his passenger 87-year-old Betty Mabie.  Both were transported to the hospital and later succumbed to their injuries.

The driver of the Infiniti suffered minor injuries.

The Toyota was found at fault in the crash for violation of right of way.

The investigation continues but alcohol is not a factor in the crash.
