A man is arrested for shooting a Hendry County Sheriff's Deputy.
Investigators say 42-year-old Deputy Jayson Moorehead was rushed to a trauma center, where he was listed in stable condition just after midnight. Deputy Moorehead just graduated from the police academy and has only been with the sheriff's office for six months.
Captain Susan Harrelle tells Fox 4 a "person of interest" was being questioned early Friday morning.
According to investigators, at about 10:00 p.m. Thursday night, Deputy Moorehead responded to the M&M Store at 944 Kentucky Avenue. Investigators say he was speaking with a man, when the man suddenly and without warning pulled out a gun and fired four times, hitting Moorehead in the upper left arm.
Investigators tell Fox 4 they are looking for the gun and have set up a perimeter around the store. The Palm Beach Sheriff's Office is also involved in the investigation.
Police aren't releasing the name of the man arrested.
