LCSO: Teen's death in Lehigh a 'tragic accident'

LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. (UPDATE)- On Saturday March 5, at 5PM, the Lee County Sheriff's Office responded to a possible drowning involving a 17-year-old male in a lake near 2501 15th Street W. in Lehigh Acres. 

Due to the nature of the incident, detectives of the Lee County Sheriff's Office Major Crimes Unit and Dive Team responded and began conducting a death investigation. 

The investigation revealed several juveniles were swimming in the lake when 17-year-old Elaundre Ahmed Foster began having trouble swimming and went under. Several of the juveniles attempted to rescue Foster but were unable to locate him in the murky water. Emergency 911 was called and a joint effort with Lee County EMS, Fish and Wildlife, and the Lee County Sheriff's Office began a search for Foster. 

The Lee County Sheriff's Office Divers were able to locate Foster in the water around 8:45PM deceased. There are no signs of foul play and all indications revealed this to be a tragic accident. 


LEHIGH ACRES, Fla.-  The Lee County Sheriff's Office is currently working on a death investigation at 2501 15th Street W. in Lehigh Acres. 

Detectives are on scene and the LCSO Dive Team is also responding.
