Eaglet missing from popular webcam nest

Posted

LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- There seems to be some trouble brewing at Southwest Florida's famous eagle nest.

Southwest Florida Eagle Cam says there may have been an owl attack on the two eaglets born earlier this year, E7 and E8.

Both parents, Harriet and M15, as well as E7, have reportedly returned to the nest, but E8 hasn't been seen since Friday night.

Florida Fish and Wildlife is investigating this case.  Officers say if the eaglet turns up injured, they'll try to take it to a local rehab facility.

In an update on their Facebook page, residents are urged to avoid interfering with the nest and to contact CROW (Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife) at (239) 472-3644 if they observe an injured eagle.
