FORT MYERS, Fla. — Fort Myers Police Department (FMPD) confirms a body was discovered in the Caloosahatchee River near downtown on Thursday morning.

FMPD confirms the body is a male in his 30's or 40's.

Investigators say the body was in the Caloosahatchee River near the 1300 block of Lee Street.

It was recovered from the river around 7 a.m.

FMPD says it is early on in the investigation.

No other information is being released at this time.
