A Hillsborough County firefighter's home was destroyed in a fire while he was on duty.
Eddie Torres received the call about his own home.
His wife and three year old son made it out of the house fire safely, but their dog did not. Their home was destroyed.
His fellow employees at the fire station are helping the family recover.
Torres said the fire was related to the family car, but it's still under investigation.
"My situation, its devastating losing our dog and losing our home...we can rebuild, those things are replaceable," Torres said. "I want to say thank you to the community people are reaching out and we don't even know who they are."
