CAPE CORAL, Fla.  — A woman says she encountered a man who jumped out from behind the bushes and exposed himself to her.

It happened at the Murphy USA Gas Station on Del Prado Boulevard, where she stopped to put air in her tires.

“I was trying to figure out how to put air in the tires and while I’m doing that, I see a there’s a guy,” said Maria, when she met in person with 4 In Your Corner.

The mysterious man came at her from the bushes Tuesday night.  “He coughed and I turned and that’s when I noticed he was facing me with his zipper down,” she said.

The woman tells Fox 4 she tried to get away from the stranger but he continued to come toward her until he was just feet away.  “He actually turned so I can see him again,” said Maria.

Maria feared it could’ve been worse.  “He could’ve actually done something to me,” she said. “No one would’ve known because he could’ve gotten me right behind my car,” she added.

She chose to get back inside her car right away and called the police. The man saw her on the phone and ran away on Del Prado.

Maria gave a description of the man to Cape Coral Police.  “I also told the cop to stay here until I finished filling up my tires,” she said.

Maria agreed to speak to 4 In Your Corner because she wanted to get the word out and warn others.

“That’s just super weird and super gross,” said another woman inside the parking lot. “That’s super traumatizing, I know if I saw that, I’d never go to that gas station ever again,” she added.

Cape Coral police recommends if you find yourself in this type of situation to not confront the person. Police urge you to just be a good witness.

Maria tells us she will continue on in the process to carry her concealed weapons permit.
