COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. — A crash involving at least nine vehicles in North Naples Friday afternoon injured several people, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. It happened around 1 p.m. at the intersection of Immokalee Road and Goodlette-Frank Road, near the entrance of NCH North Naples Hospital.
According to North Collier Fire-Rescue officials, the driver of a U-Haul truck experienced a medical episode of some kind while traveling westbound on Immokalee Road. His truck slammed into multiple vehicles, then smashed through an NCH sign and a light pole, before finally coming to a stop in a parking lot several hundred feet from the intersection.
The U-Haul driver reportedly walked away from the truck without injury, but FHP officials said that several people from the other vehicles were taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
The crash shut down two westbound lanes on Immokalee Road for some time after the crash, which remains under investigation.
