CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla.-- The State Fire Marshal is investigating what caused a Port Charlotte home to catch fire.

It happened just after 6 P.M., on July 17th, 2019. The fire department say 7 units were needed to put out this house fire on Surfside Court. These are photos posted by the Charlotte County Fire and Rescue Facebook page.

Firefighters say most of the fire was in the house's garage and attic and caused extensive damage. The homeowner and their two birds were not injured.
