CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. -- Charlotte County deputies want to make sure you're safe during e-commerce transactions, so now they've set up safe zones at all district offices.
Anyone can go there to buy or sell items.
They say they've responded to three separate thefts during e-commerce transactions over the past six weeks.
They say anyone buying or selling items should tell people where they're going, bring someone with them, and meet in a well-lit place.
In Lee County, safe zones were established at the Fort Myers Police Department headquarters in Downtown Fort Myers. Back in March 2016, the department created a safe exchange zone in their their east parking lot. All designated safe zones are equipped with 24 hour surveillance to deter criminal activity.
