CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. -- Drivers headed southbound in Charlotte County Friday experienced backups due to a vehicle fire.
The fire happened near mile marker 154 in Punta Gorda, near the Oil well Road overpass, just before noon Friday. That's after the Tuckers Grade exit (#158).
All southbound lanes were closed for about 45 minutes until one inside lane was opened to allow vehicles to pass. Backups remain in the area.

No word yet on whether there were any injuries in the fire.
