Matlacha artist proudly displays her support for Trump

MATLACHA, Fla. -- Political signs have been dominating the headlines lately, and in Southwest Florida it's no different.  But one woman is showing her support in a unique way with a campaign sign unlike any you've seen.

It's the wide ranging colors found throughout Matlacha that paint the town's personality.  But the size and colors of one sign is getting all the attention.

"I put a Trump sign on top of my roof because I had six of them stolen."  The colorful character who is artist Leoma Lovegrove knows these signs are too big to steal.

"I do like small periodically, you know little paintings that she does.  But I like the big displays.  It really pops it out there," says Lovegrove fan Lisa Manning.

Lovegrove creates vibrant pieces that pop out for anyone to get their hands on and doesn't mind using her hands to sign your purchased copy.  "It's huge, and it's like Leoma's work; it's all spectacular colors," says fan Stephen Risvold about the Trump sign.

And its not the colors but the sign itself that Lovegrove knows may come with opposition as Trump's candidacy has had its share of controversy. But she cares too much to let that stop her.

"It's a passionate election, and I'm really out here on a limb here because I put my business into this. This is my livelihood, but I'm so passionate about it."

Passionate about the election as she is with her art.  "There are some who will like it, some who won't.  And those who are right in the middle," says Lovegrove. "What I'm hoping with the sign are the swing voters, the people that, 'oh I don't really know how I'm going to go'.  Well that artist over there, if she likes him, I like him."

Lovegrove tells Fox 4 that her artwork is a way to her express her views, which is part of our country's beauty.
