FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Police say speed was a factor in an early-morning single-vehicle crash that left one person dead in Fort Myers.
According to Fort Myers Police, the crash happened around 12:10 AM in the 3700 block of Central Avenue.
Investigators say a vehicle containing three people suffered extensive damage when it hit a tree.
One occupant was pronounced dead at the scene. Two others were transported to the hospital with critical injuries.
An exact cause of the crash has not been determined yet. Investigators are still working on the case and have not released any names yet.
