Realtor's death sparks fear in gay community

Posted

Dozen's gathered at Tubby's bar in Cape Coral Tuesday night to remember Rick Marshall.  It was Marshall's favorite bar, and days before his death he bought the entire house a round of shots.

"This is a great community around him, so many people who loved him, thank you all for being here, to celebrate his life with us," said Marshall's son James.

The Cape Coral realtor was found murdered and dismembered February 23rd after not showing up for a conference in California.

Police are calling this a murder, so far no one has been arrested.  Some are worried Marshall, who is gay, is the victim of a hate crime.

"Of course, you don't just dismember someone for a reason that it isn't," said one of Marshall's friends Joe Lantini.

Marshall's oldest son, Matthew remains in the Lee County Jail.  He's charged with using his father's credit card, but he has not been implicated in his murder.
