Shots fired in attempted robbery in Fort Myers

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Fort Myers Police are looking for a shooter after two attempted robberies overnight.

The first robbery happened at 2:49am Monday at the 7-Eleven on Colonial Boulevard just of Interstate 75.  Police say a black male armed with a handgun entered the store and demanded money from the clerk. He then fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash and cigarettes. There were no injuries.

The black male suspect seen in surveillance images here is described as wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, and a black t-shirt covering his face and also wearing white/red gloves.

The next incident happened shortly afterward at the 7-Eleven on Winkler Avenue, near Solomon Boulevard.

At that store, police say 5 shots were fired through the front glass of the store, injuring one employee inside.

Police believe the two robberies are connected.
