FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Heavy storms caused some building damage in the McGregor Boulevard area of Fort Myers Friday.

People in the South Pointe community fearing the worst, but praying for the best after severe storms tore through their community-destroying homes and leaving them to pick up the pieces.

Sam Davidson shaking as she paints a picture with her words, "The water was going through the lights. The floors were all lifted up. The water was pouring in the bedroom, the windows were blown out."

Large crashes were heard as residents took cover in their homes, while memories of hurricane Charlie ran through their heads.

"In 2004 we got hit by hurricane Charlie when we got hit in the Cape. So it was my second time going through this."

Trees down, debris in the pool, and porches were blown off. A storm so powerful leaving residents in the South Pointe community in disbelief.

"This has never happened. I've been here 7 years and this is just shock." says Robin Weber.

For now, the community is repairing the damage and cleaning up the rumble.
