Many DirecTV subscribers are calling foul after losing their favorite cable news channel just days before the presidential election.
Many viewers are contacting Fox 4 complaining that for two days in a row, their DirecTV box is not getting Fox News Channel.
According to the Washington Times, the channel that usually broadcasts Fox News had a message from DirecTV: “We are experiencing temporary technical difficulties. Please stand by. We apologize for the inconvenience.” The message was posted in English and Spanish.
The CNN channel was unavailable but showed a message indicating it was a pay channel.
Many viewers find the timing of the issues suspicious.
"It seems kind of odd to me that in this presidential season, and all the discussion of a rigged election, and all of a sudden Fox News would be shut down in Florida of all states," says one caller to Fox 4.
"I think that this is deliberate. We all know that Fox is the only network that is broadcasting the real true news on the election and what is going on, and I just find it a bit amazing that is the only network that is having technical difficulties on DirecTV right now," said another caller.
UPDATE: AT&T, which owns DirecTV, contacted Fox 4 Friday and offered this update:
"DirecTV is experiencing technical difficulties impacting 8 HD channels, including CNN HD and FOX News HD, for our satellite customers. These and most of the other channels are available in SD and via our streaming apps. Customers can learn how to unhide SD channels at http://soc.att.com/2f1HYN5. We apologize for the inconvenience. We’re working to address the issues and will update accordingly."
