FORT MYERS, Fla. -- During his speech at Germain Arena Monday, Donald Trump went off script to do a reading of lyrics, apparently intended to make a point in support of his anti-illegal immigration policies.
The lyrics are from the song "The Snake", originally recorded by soul singer Al Wilson in 1968, and a minor hit in the UK in 1975.
And though the song was reportedly not written about illegal immigration, Trump has taken to doing readings of the song at some campaign rallies.
And Monday, he read it again, deviating from the prepared speech in the teleprompter and pulling a sheet of paper with the lyrics from his jacket pocket.
