NAPLES, Fla. — NAPLES, Fla. — One person died in a two-engine plane crash in Naples Saturday afternoon. People who live near the site of the crash call this a tragedy, especially right before Mother’s Day.

Neighbors on Hawthorne Woods Way said they heard a loud boom just after 3:00 p.m. Saturday.

CCSO said a plane leaving Key West headed to the Naples airport crashed just a few miles away, killing one person inside. Michael McKellar watched the crash investigation from his house. He said it reminds him just how precious life is.

“Anything can happen at any moment. No one’s promised tomorrow,” he said. “Here we are right before Mother’s Day, and I’m sure those families hurt. So, our prayers are with them this day.”

The sheriff’s office said the plane did not hit any homes during the crash, and it’s unclear as of Saturday night if there were any more passengers on board.
