Shelters are filling up across the region, including at the North Ft. Myers Academy for the Arts. Fox 4 cameras caught several cars being turned away from the shelter just before 6 p.m. Saturday because the shelter had reached capacity.
A National guardsman went car to car, informing families that the shelter was full.
The principal of the Academy says they actually allowed more in the shelter than capacity, but eventually they were not able to accept any more.
One family we spoke to said they would try another shelter in the area.
