The Fort Myers Police Department says an officer has been placed on paid administrative leave after a man was shot & killed when he did not follow police commands. Officer say the man who died was holding a knife in one hand and a dismembered body part in the other. Police were called to this scene on Sunday night.

On Monday morning, a heavy police presence was observed at a Fort Myers home.
This happened at the corner of Hanson Street and Grand Avenue, where multiple homes were surrounded by yellow crime scene tape.
The Fort Myers Police Department says this is an active investigation of an isolated incident.
Police say there is no threat to the public.
