Hendry County man wins $5 million off scratch-off lottery ticket

HENDRY COUNTY, Fla. — Congratulations to Jorge Mederos, 31, of Clewiston.

Mederos claimed a $5 million top prize from the $20 MONOPOLY™ JACKPOT Scratch-Off game using a secured drop box located at Florida Lottery Headquarters in Tallahassee.

He purchased his winning ticket from Publix, located at 2724 Hillsboro Plaza in Tampa.

The $20 Scratch-Off game, MONOPOLY JACKPOT, launched in September 2018, and features more than $407.5 million in prizes, including six top prizes of $5 million.

The Florida Lottery is responsible for contributing more than $37 billion to education and sending more than 840,000 students to college through the Bright Futures Scholarship Program. The Florida Lottery reinvests 98 percent of its revenue back into Florida's economy through prize payouts, commissions to more than 13,000 Florida retailers and transfers to education. Since 1988, Florida Lottery games have paid more than $69 billion in prizes and made more than 3,000 people millionaires.
