TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- A lucky Port Charlotte resident is half a million dollars richer after buying a winning Florida Lottery ticket at a local convenience store.

60-year-old Gerald Diff has claimed his $500,000 prize at Florida Lottery Headquarters in Tallahassee.

According to lottery officials, Diff purchased a $500,000 Holiday Cash scratch-off ticket for $5 at the Circle K on Tamiami Trail at W. Tarpon Boulevard NW.

The $500,000 Holiday Cash game launched October 23rd and offers prizes from $10,000 to $500,000.
