Port Charlotte woman wins over a million in Florida Lottery jackpot

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. --- A Port Charlotte woman wins millions playing the Florida Lottery. 

Jodi Hinand, 56, of Port Charlotte claimed her winnings from the $1.3 million LUCKY MONEY jackpot from the June 8th drawing at the Florida Lottery Headquarters in Tallahassee. 

Lottery officials confirming in a press release, Hinand chose to receive her winnings as a one time, lump-sum payment of $923,438.52. 

Hinand and her husband said they will spend their winnings responsibly, and plan to help their two sons pay for college. 

Hinand purchased her winning ticket at Publix, located at 4265 Tamiami Trail in Port Charlotte. The retailer received a bonus commission of $1,000 for selling the jackpot-winning ticket. 

The LUCKY MONEY drawings are broadcast on 17 carrier stations throughout the state.
