Scratch-off ticket pays $1 million to Sebring man

HIGHLANDS COUNTY, Fla. -- A Sebring man has claimed a $1 million grand prize from a Florida Lottery scratch-off ticket.

53-year-old Mark Brooks has chosen to accept his prize as a one-time payment of $705,000.

According to the Florida Lottery, Brooks purchased a $5 Gold Rush Classic ticket at Sebring Citgo on U.S. 27 South.

The retailer has earned a $2,000 bonus commission for the sale.

The Florida Lottery says scratch-off games generated more than $871 million for the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund in fiscal year 2017-18, and comprising approximately 69 percent of ticket sales.
