UPDATE: 9:34 p.m.:
The Polk County Sheriff's Office has confirmed that 35 year old Myles Strickland had an active warrant out for his arrest in connection with an armed burglary that occurred on January 18, 2025 in Lakeland, Florida.
Wednesday in Fort Myers at Mel's Diner, Strickland was taken into custody by local law enforcement, including US Marshals, and taken to a local hospital.
Aside from this active warrant, FOX 4 has learned that Strickland is no stranger to Polk County, having been arrested there ten times since 2011.
He's faced a slew of charges. Everything from scheming to defraud, to falsely identifying himself as a licensed contractor, grand theft, violating parole, driving without a license, possession of a firearm, and possession of meth.
He has also been arrested in Osceola County, Pasco County, and Palm Beach County.
UPDATE 4:35 p.m.:
The US Marshal's Office has identified the suspect shot by law enforcement.
His name is Myles Strickland and is wanted out of Polk County for several crimes, including grand theft with a firearm.
A spokesperson told Fox 4 he was staying at the Baymont by Wyndham next to the diner.

Police say this incident was a US Marshal Task Force shooting.
ORIGINAL REPORTING:
The Fort Myers Police Department confirms a shooting has occurred at Mel's Diner on Cleveland Avenue around 1PM Wednesday afternoon.
Police tell us the suspect is in custody, and has been taken to a local hospital.
No law enforcement or bystanders were injured.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating.
FMPD says it will cooperate and assist with the investigation.
