FORT MYERS, Fla. -- One Southwest Florida organization helped some local kids buy some gifts for the holidays.
The Fort Myers Alumni chapter of the Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity hosted their first “Shop with a Kappa” event this weekend.
The event made it possible for nearly 100 children to go Christmas shopping. Each child received a $50 Walmart gift card and into the store they went, crossing gifts off their wish list.
The organization also provided gift wrapping to ensure the complete holiday experience.
"This was our inaugural event and we plan to do this every year from here on out,” said Darian Montgomery.
"When you see the young people smile for getting the gifts that they want, that really makes us happy. It’s the driving force behind events like this,” said Tony Allen.
Organizers say this event could not have been possible without community donations and the support from Walmart.
