UPDATE APRIL 14:
Fox 4 has obtained documents detailing what led up to a murder investigation at a Lehigh Acres home.
According to a report, deputies arrested 71-year-old Alberto Arcia Lopez for stabbing his wife's son to death. The report does not state if it's his stepson or biological son.
On Saturday at 10:37 p.m., Lopez's wife called 911 and said there was a disturbance involving her husband and son. Then, a second call came in from a neighbor who said someone had been stabbed in the chest.
Deputies rushed to the scene and found 42-year-old Rafael Chavarry on the kitchen floor. They tried to save him, but he died from his injuries.
The Lee County Sheriff's Office talked to Chavarry's mother. She said her son recently moved back in with them.
The report says she and Chavarry got into an argument in the garage about doing the dishes. She told deputies Lopez came out and asked what they were arguing about. The report says the wife told him it was nothing important.
Moments later, deputies say Lopez got an 8-inch knife and started swinging it towards Chavarry. The wife told deputies she was in between them because Chavarry had been helping her back inside after the argument.
According to the report, Chavarry started reaching for the knife. At some point, the report says Lopez stabbed Chavarry once in the chest.
Deputies say Lopez ran off with the knife, which was found behind a neighbor's home in high grass.
Lopez's neighbor told deputies Lopez came over and said there was an "accident" inside the house. The neighbor, his wife and Lopez went to the home, where deputies say the neighbor found Chavarry on the kitchen floor.
When deputies questioned Lopez, the report says he heard Chavarry and Lopez's wife fighting. He claims Chavarry told him that if he wanted to fight, they could. Lopez says Chavarry punched him in the face before Lopez grabbed the knife and stabbed Chavarry.
Lopez told deputies Chavarry was high, intoxicated and was in fear of being knocked out.
Lopez is in the Lee County jail for second-degree murder.
