UPDATE: DEC. 30 AT 3:00 P.M.:

The Lee County Sheriff's Office has released more information about the stabbing in Lehigh Acres. They say it stemmed from a fight between neighbors.

Deputies say 56-year-old Addiel Herrera, armed with a knife, barged into a neighbor's home.

Herrera and a neighbor got into a verbal fight at first. LCSO says the victim closed their garage and locked their doors in order to get away from Herrera. That's when deputies say he went back to his house and grabbed a knife.

LCSO says he started banging on the neighbor's door. When the victim opened it, Herrera is accused of going inside and slashing a woman's hand.

"It's no surprise this man has a lengthy criminal history that includes aggravated assault and battery. Violence of any kind will NOT be tolerated in Lee County," said Sheriff Carmine Marceno. "Not only is he a bad neighbor, but he's a bad resident of Lee County."

A 56-year-old man was arrested Saturday night for barging into his neighbor's home with a knife, injuring a woman. Deputies say she pushed Herrera out the door, but he continued to stab the door several times.

When deputies got there, they found Herrera in his garage, covered in blood.

Herrera was arrested for armed burglary with assault. He does have a criminal history, including battery and resisting an officer in September, along with other violent charges, LCSO says.
