There are a variety of health apps that can get you moving.
If you don’t have access to a gym or equipment, one app you may want to try is called BodBot. It allows you to opt out of the exercises involving equipment and use your body as a weight.
If you do have access to a gym, there are several good apps to download. First, there’s Freeletics. If you want a personal trainer but can't afford the cost, Freeletics gives you a personalized coach and workout plan for just $4.99 a month.
Another fitness app to try is Fitbod. The app allows you to pinpoint exactly which body parts you want to work on. Whether it’s your glutes or back, the app tells you what machine to use in the gym and how many reps to do.
Another similar app is MyTraining Workout Tracker Log, which can keep track of your workouts, too.
Personal trainer Sarah Fox says apps are a great tool if you're looking to save money.
“It just provides that programming for you that's hard to think of on your own,” she says.
Fox says there are a few things apps can't provide though, including one-on-one attention and advice on proper form.
“You can definitely hire a personal trainer, maybe just as a check-in once in a while to make sure you know what you're doing and moving correctly and feeling good about the movements,” Fox suggests.
Whether you use an app or a personal trainer, there's no better time to get moving than now, Fox says.
“When you feel your best and look your best everything falls into place,” she says.
