Hottest toys: Stores list what kids will likely want for Christmas 2017

It's hard to say what will be the most-sought holiday toy gift this year, but retailers are trying.

Toys "R" Us has issued "Geoffrey's Top 20" and says the items on the list are selected by its panel of toy experts.

While last year's hard-to-get item was a Hatchimal, on Toys "R" Us' list this year is the Hatchmials Colleggtibles Egg Carton 12-Pack for $24.99.

Target's "Top Toys 2017" list is organized by age. STEM toys, games, puzzles and toys from the new Hearth & Hand with Magnolia collection by Chip and Joanna Gaines of the popular TV show "Fixer Upper" have made the list.

From that collection, available Nov. 5 at Target, is a Wooden Dollhouse with Furniture for $129.99.

Amazon's hot toy list is also by age, but the online retailer includes a Top 100 as well. "Too cute, too cuddly;" "Get Active," and "Family Night" are just a few of several themes.

LEGO toys are found throughout Amazon's list, including this LEGO Boost Creative Toolbox Building and Coding Kit with more than 800 pieces for $159.95.

Walmart's list includes toys it says are top-rated by kids. The Disney Frozen 12-Volt Ride-On Sleigh is $298 and only available at Walmart, according to the list. But there are plenty of lower-priced items, such as the best-selling Soggy Doggy Board Game for $14.88.

Walmart is offering layaway again this holiday season, and it's free to sign up.
