Healthy Halloween candy?

Everyone has favorite candy, and we sure like candy -- Americans buy 600 million pounds of Halloween candy each year!

So, of course we want to indulge, but before we do, we wanted to see what sweet treats are more nutritious than the others.

So let's start with Reese's or Snickers?

"I also prefer Reese’s, although they have a few more calories,” says registered dietician Sara Scheler. “I prefer them because they have simple ingredients. There's really just sugar, a little bit of fat, chocolate, and peanuts; where Snickers has a much longer label and corn syrup as well."

So what about M&M’s and Kit-Kats?

"I would pick Kit Kat over M&M's. I don't like M&M's because they have all that artificial color along with them, and they do have a lot more concentrated sugar."

Now, between Twix or Milky Way, which is healthier?

“Between Twix and Milky Way, I would actually say that's a tie. They have similar amount of calories, similar amounts of added sugar."

So if you plan on indulging in few pieces over the next few weeks, the dietitian we spoke to suggests eating them with a meal. That way our blood glucose level doesn't spike.
