Wednesday is National Candy Corn Day

LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- Candy will take center stage Thursday night, as little ghosts and goblins head out door to door to collect treats and not tricks. But that doesn't mean a Halloween classic can't get some attention a little early.

Wednesday is all about the candy corn. October 30th is designated as National Candy Corn Day.

The sugary candy looks like a yellow, orange, and white horn, and was created in the late 1880's by George Renninger of Wunderle Candy Company. But it wasn't a hit until 1889, when the Goelitz Candy Company popularized it.

Love it or hate it, it often leaves connoisseurs torn.

But after over 100 years, there is no denying the candy corn.
