Tuesday, Dec. 12 marks the first day of Hanukkah this year. It's an awesome Jewish holiday celebration, and here's why:
• It's eight days long. That's a lengthy celebration, and there's always the potential for a nap on Dec. 21.
• Fried foods are a requirement, and that includes potato latkes and jelly-filled doughnuts. They are fried in oil ... a symbol of the oil that kept the menorah lit for eight glorious days (it was only expected to stay lit for just one night).
• The menorah is beautiful.
