The events and things to do in the area of Southwest Florida will include an "extraterrestrial" encounter with planet Mars, a TikiFest Waikiki style, a fun community day at the beach, some art around downtown Fort Myers, and a date night with your flurry friend.

A Touch of Mars
FORT MYERS - The Calusa Nature Center and Planetarium will be hosting a Heitz Mars Meteorite Unveiling Reception on Friday Aug. 11. The event includes light fare, a planetarium show on Mars and a meet and greet with the rare rock’s owner, Tim Heitz. Nibbles, drinks, scientific explanation and a preview of the Martian Meteorite! Save the date for this “extraterrestrial” event to benefit CNCP. Tickets are $20 in advance and $40 at the door. The exhibit opens to the public on Aug. 12 with space-related activities for all ages and a special entrance fee of $15 for adults and $10 for children.

Fishermen's Village 2017 TikiFest
PUNTA GORDA -Fishermen’s village to feature second annual “TikiFest”. Promising to be a full afternoon of family friendly tiki fun, event admission and parking are free. Some highlights of the event include live trop rock music, the Waikiki hula dancers show, juggler, face painting, games, limbo, family activities, carvings, art, photo, tropical clothing shopping, drink/food specials, Hawaiian leis giveaways, and much more!

Community Day Fair at Fish Tale Marina
FORT MYERS BEACH - Join Fish Tale Marina as they host a Community Day Fair to celebrate local public safety agencies including the Lee County Sheriff's Office, Fort Myers Beach Fire Dept, U.S. Coast Guard and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. This is a free event; there will be face painting, games and live entertainment!

SoCo Art Crawl
FORT MYERS - Paris. London. New York. Fort Myers. It all happens south of Colonial now at the SoCo arts and cultural event. Enjoy art after-hours during this art and cultural crawl! The event features scheduled performances, talks, short plays, open houses, artist demonstrations, gallery openings, wine tastings and other activities. Visitors can shop, dine, and explore local art spaces. With exciting and unique offerings around every corner.

Yappy Hour at Bell Tower
FORT MYERS - Bring your pooch toBell Tower Shops for Yappy Hour, where you can meet adoptable dogs, sip on cold refreshments from the outdoor bar and listen to live music with your four-legged friend. Enjoy an evening of music and finish off the night at one of eight pet friendly restaurants throughout the center. This is a free event open to the public with proceeds from the event to benefit the Gulf Coast Humane Society.
