CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. -- Charlotte County EMS has confirmed a 14-year-old boy was killed after being hit by a car while riding his bike.
Charlotte County responded at 8PM Friday to the intersection of Sheehan Blvd and Walton Ave in Port Charlotte. The boy, later identified as 14-year-old Devin Federly, was transferred to Bayfront Hospital in Port Charlotte where he was pronounced dead.
Troopers say Federly was hit by a northbound pickup truck that crossed the center line, then fled the scene.
The truck is described as a silver, older extended-cab truck, possibly with a chrome tool box in the bed. It likely has front end and windshield damage.
