134 Arrests made in FMPD, LCSO task force

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- 134 mug shots are displayed in the Fort Myers Police Department. Each one, is a different arrest made under the Task Force, combining the Lee County Sheriffs Office and Fort Myers Police Department.

93 of the people arrested are already back out on the streets, released on bond. Police Chief Dennis Eads says they've taken 14 illegal guns off the streets.

"Those are 14 weapons, firearms that could be used to hurt someone or murder someone or threaten someone, endanger someone's life. That doesn't even count the number of firearms that were legally carried," Eads said.

When pointing out criminals on the board, you'll find Nathaniel Pitts and Tommy Alexander charged with shooting into a home after firing shots on Thomas street. Or Kevin Parker Jr. charged with killing Henry Jenkins Jr. in October. But you wont see a suspect arrested from the Zombicon shooting that left one man dead and several others injured over a month ago.

"As far as the Zombicon goes, that's still ongoing as well. Not a lot more to update on it. Still working constantly with the FBI with the state attorneys office and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement."

In most of these neighborhoods, it's much more police activity then people are used to seeing. Four in Your Corner's Malcolm Johnson asked Eads how people are reacting to more cops. "The people that need it and want it, want it to continue. Those involved with criminal activity want it to be over so they can do what they please."
