CAPE CORAL, Fla.- A Cape Coral woman is in disbelief after she says her family's car was stolen right from her driveway.

The car was last seen on Monday night on the 600th Block of NW 18th Avenue in North Cape Coral.

"When I walked outside to leave for a doctor's appointment, I noticed that my husband's car was gone," Miranda Fumia said.

The car is described as a green 2016 Nissan Rogue. The family has owned it less than a month.

"I couldn't believe it so I looked again and was like, 'Okay, well the car's not here.' So I walked back inside and I was like 'Jay, where's our car?'"

Friends and family have been sharing a Facebook post with a picture of the car and tag number BUQ C27 hoping to find it.

"I hear about it all the time on TV and never thought it would happen to us," Fumia said.

Fumia says it's out of the norm for something like this to happen in her neighborhood. We looked through an interactive crime map on the Cape Coral's Police Department's website to see if there's a trend in the area.

The crime map shows there have been nine thefts of cars in areas near her neighborhood in the last six months. What it doesn't tell you is if those nine cars were also taken from owner's driveways while they were home.

"A lot of us around here like myself are homebodies," a neighbor said. "I'm home a great deal of the time and it shows the level of the people that took the car."
