Cape Coral issues a burn ban effective immediately.
The city will also go to mandatory one-day watering on April 21st.
City Manager John Szerlag issued a statement, saying "“The combination of no rain and only minimal reduction in irrigation usage by our residents and businesses has lowered the water in our freshwater canal system to critical levels,”
The burn ban prohibits open burning except for barbecue grills.
With the one-day watering shortage, people must adjust their sprinklers to their permitted day and time. First-time violators get a warning. Fines start at $100 and go up from that.
Here is the watering schedule.
