COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. — The COVID-19 Pandemic is straining relationships. Many Florida couples are pushing through the tough times, together. The Florida Department of Health shows Collier County’s divorce rate was cut in half in 2020. But it’s not that easy for everyone to hold on.

Fox 4’s Rachel Loyd sat down with a Southwest Florida woman who recently broke up with her spouse of 20+ years:

Rachel: If there was no pandemic, do you think you guys would still be together?

Kristen Miller: My first response when you said it to me was - no - that we would still be together. But it’s because I would’ve continued being outside the home and not focused on my relationship. I was not focused on the relationship. I had tons of problems with it, but I was able to leave.

Local attorneys also noticed a spike in custody battles. Tonight, on Fox 4 News at 10, learn what they’re fighting over, what’s keeping some couples together, and tearing others apart.
