NORTH PORT, Fla. -- The North Port Police Department says a 5-year-old boy died at the hospital after being hit by a truck Tuesday afternoon.
Police say Sawyer Gordon was riding his bicycle near Tropicare Boulevard and Wampee Drive when a truck hit him.
The crash shut down Tropicare Boulevard in both directions. Gordon was first transported to Bayfront Health in St. Petersburg by helicopter and then transferred to Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital where he died.
Gordon was not wearing a helmet.
Police say there are no charges as this time.
