911 hang up leads to arrest

LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- A 911 hang up alerted police. It was the third hang up Lee County Sheriff's Office received at a home on Palm Street in Bonita Springs.

"I have seen police coming in and out the past couple of days but I didn't know about it until you told me," says Andreas Brentt, who has lived in the neighborhood the past couple of years.

Brentt concerned when he discovered why the Sheriff's Office came calling.

Deputies knocked on the front door but no one answered.

They eventually got inside and found two young girls locked inside a bathroom with no adult supervision.

"When a kid is in need you can't leave them alone because there might be issues that come up that you are not aware of," said Brentt, who is a father.

The 4 year-old girl's father Alfonso Reymundo was arrested.

Deputies questioned the father of the 8-year-old girl.

Both fathers said they were running late for work and didn't have time to take their daughters to daycare. But Reymundo was charged, even though investigators determined Reymundo left an hour earlier than the other father.

"They could've asked neighbors to have an eye on the kids and check on them and have them over for play or whatever, but leaving them alone," said Brentt.

The Department of Children and Families was notified and removed the children from the home.
