Airport Security at RSW

Posted

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Travelers at Southwest Florida International Airport say they are a bit uneasy just one day after the terror attacks in Brussels, Belgium.

"It certainly makes me look over my shoulder", says traveler Mario Catalano. "I think it's a horrific act. A bunch of bullies going after innocent people. It's become an unsafe world."

The terror attacks at a Brussels airport and metro station left over 30 people dead and many more injured. Employees of RSW here in Fort Myers say they haven't noticed an increase in security at Southwest Florida International. They say the security teams in place have been aware of these dangers for years now and prepared to keep travelers safe.

RSW only has one flight to Europe but a little farther North, and with many more international flights, Tampa International Airport is on a heightened alert. Extra police, TSA officers and K-9 units are stationed in public areas throughout the airport. Officials there say it is just a precaution.
