CAPE CORAL, Fla. -- Cape Coral Police Department made an arrest in an injury crash that shut down Veterans Memorial Parkway for a couple of hours Saturday night.

Last night, officers responded to multiple traffic crashes at the 500 block of Veterans Parkway W.

The investigation revealed that Michael Lowry, 26,  was driving westbound on Veterans Parkway when another driver struck his vehicle but would not stop. Lowry followed after the vehicle in an attempt to get the other driver to stop. According to several witnesses, Lowry passed them at a high rate of speed, left his lane of travel and struck the other vehicle which caused the vehicle to flip over.

Two other vehicles that were approaching the crash had to brake quickly, causing them to get into a traffic crash. The driver that originally hit Lowry’s vehicle was a juvenile on a Learners Permit DL. The juvenile was taken to the Cape Coral ER with a laceration on his head that required stitches.  The juvenile was cited for the first accident.

Lawry was arrested and transported to the Lee County Jail.
