PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. -- Deputies are investigating the discovery of a dead body that was found on a mangrove island Tuesday.
According to the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office, reports came in Tuesday about a body found on an island near the Port Charlotte Beach Complex on Harbor Boulevard.
Investigators say the death appeared to be the suicide of an unidentified male.
They say there are no public safety concerns and the identity of the deceased is being withheld at this time as the investigation is ongoing.
