CAPE CORAL, Fla. -- Diplomat Middle School and Diplomat Elementary School were placed on lockdown Monday after reports of a bomb threat.
Police tell Fox 4 that the bomb threat was made via a phone call, and the schools were quickly evacuated as a precaution and searched.
Lee County Schools sent out messages to parents urging them not to come to the schools until the all clear.
Still, some parents were anxiously waiting outside. "I just want to run in there and grab my kids, but I can't. They won't let us," said one parent waiting outside the school.
Less than two weeks ago, bomb threats were called in to two Cape Coral schools. There were several threats made at other Southwest Florida schools last school year as well.
**UPDATE** -- Cape Coral Police have cleared and reopened both schools.
UPDATE: Diplomat Elementary and Middle Schools are cleared and re-opened for students at this time. Cape Coral Police units clearing.
