Brush fire causing interstate delays in Charlotte County

CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. -- A brush fire near Interstate 75 is causing delays in the southbound lanes in Port Charlotte.

According to Charlotte County Fire & EMS, fire crews are working the approximately 4-acre fire, which is located between the Kings Highway (mile marker #170) and Harborview Road (mile marker #167) exits.

No structures are believed to be threatened.

Florida Highway Patrol reports one southbound lane of I-75 is closed for emergency vehicles, causing a backup to the Kings Highway exit.  Drivers are urged to use caution with possible smoke in the area.
