Businesses hurt by algae apply for loans

LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- At least 12 small Lee County businesses have applied for emergency bridge loans being offered by the Department of Economic Opportunity.

The loans are meant to help local businesses recover from algae-related economic damages.

All of these businesses are involved in industries like fishing, boating, restaurants and retail.

The application period runs through August 31st.

To see if a business is eligible or to complete an application by August 31, 2016 visit www.floridadisasterloan.org. For additional questions regarding local administration of the Emergency Bridge Loan Program, contact representatives from the Florida Small Business Development Centers (SBDCs).
