Campus buzzing as FGCU team heads to March...

There's a lot of buzz around the campus of Florida Gulf Coast University as the men's basketball team heads to the NCAA Tournament for the second time in 4 years.

The 16th-seeded Eagles will play Fairleigh Dickinson Tuesday night in Dayton. But if they win that game, could the Eagles go on to beat number-one seeded North Carolina? Some students say anything is possible.

"We all feel we're gong to win and go far in this tournament," said FGCU freshman Matthew Stein. "UNC is a task, but we beat Georgetown in 2013. You've got to have that Dunk City pride."

Some students who remember the Eagle's Cinderella run to the Sweet 16 in 2013 have reason to believe in their team.

"I was here freshman year when it happened, so it's definitely cool to be a senior and see it happen a second time as well," said senior Colby Pickering.

"People for a little bit thought after a while that they might be a one-hit wonder type thing, but they kind of just did it a second time," he added. "So that answers that question."

Pickering said the men's basketball team has nothing to lose against first seeded University of North Carolina, if they make it past Fairleigh Dickinson in Dayton.

"I'm optimistic," Pickering added. "I definitely want to root for FGCU and see how they do."

The Eagles's focus for now is trying to get a win against Fairleigh Dickinson from New Jersey. The winner of that game will advance to play North Carolina in Raleigh on Thursday.
