FORT MYERS, Fla.- Another twist in the dramatic race to be your next elections supervisor in Lee County.
Dan Sinclair was a no show, He told FOX 4 News he pulled out because he's been threatened with physical violence and feels law enforcement isn't doing enough to protect him.
Nearly every seat was full at the North Fort Myers Recreation Center for the supervisor of elections candidates forum.
Two candidates of the five didn't show up: Dan Sinclair and Tommy Dolye who pointed to Sinclair for why he didn't come.
Doyle says he will not attend any more forums with Sinclair. He made this statement: "Dan Sinclair is defending himself in the forums and we are not getting to talk about the issues of the office."
At previous forums, Sinclair has said he was threatened as some cursed him.
That name calling comes as critics continue to try to link Sinclair to a hit and run case that killed a man. Sinclair has never been named a suspect.
Other candidates acknowledge it's been a distraction.
Sharon Harrington says,"The only problem I have with it, its very disruptive. At the last three different forums that we've had there has been disruption."
His opponent, James Hefren says, "Tense. It's uncomfortable. We all know Dan's situation."
